Abstract:
One of the main objectives of education is to train the sense organs of the child like eyes, ears etc. When the senses of the child are trained, only then its proper moral development will be possible. After the development of the child's mental powers, the reasoning power should be developed. The purpose of value-based education in Indian knowledge-tradition is mainly the development of devotion to God and spirituality, realization of Satyam, Shivam, Sundaram, character-building, development of all dimensions of personality, development of social duties, tradition and culture of the nation. Protection, emphasis on becoming knowledgeable and making, following religion and truthfulness, establishing peaceful and pleasant coordination, coordination of knowledge and intelligence, establishing relationship between knowledge and action. In true sense, this education policy of the Indian knowledge-tradition is complete in itself, which enables a man to easily complete the journey from this world to the other world. The Radhakrishnan Commission (1948-49) laid special emphasis on secularism, spiritual knowledge and moral values. This commission suggested adopting 'meditation' exclusively in schools. According to the 'Kothari Commission' (1964), special emphasis was given on the development of moral, spiritual and character qualities of the students. Moral education is the main means of the upliftment of human personality, cultured life and social welfare. With this, the defects of corruption, selfishness, carelessness, gluttony, deceit and intolerance etc. are removed.
